About Amor Jones
Aaron “Amor” Jones has big plans for himself.
“I want to be remembered as the greatest rapper of all time,” says the 19 year-old MC.
Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Jones began writing rhymes at the age of 14, shortly after his grandmother passed away. Writing was like therapy.
Less than a year later, at 15, Jones would construct his first full song. This lead to a full pursuit of all things hip-hop. While his passion was undeniable, Jones’ friends were skeptical.
“I was told in school that I’ll never be famous because I don’t rap about crack,” Jones remembers with a smile.
Soon before graduating from high school, Amor Jones released Epic Failure. Despite the title, Jones’ first official mixtape turned out to be a success. MySpace Hip-Hop named Epic Failure one of the hottest of Summer 2009 along with Drake’s So Far Gone, Nicki Minaj’s Beam Me Up Scotty, and 50 Cent’s War Angel LP.
Shortly thereafter, Jones would relocate from Columbus, Ohio to the Los Angeles area. This is where he crafted his latest project, The Wake Up Show.
“People I've never met before are telling me that The Wake Up Show is like a breath of fresh air on their iPods,” Jones says with confidence.
That fresh sound can be attributed to a unique voice. A college journalist who recently saw Jones perform describes it as “warm” and “natural”.
Amor Jones continues to reach new listeners with his voice. His current single, “Right Now”, has been getting spins on college radio stations, and is resonating with a diverse group of music fans.
“That song [“Right Now”] shows my potential to reach the world. If you listen to the lyrics, I'm talking about growing up poor, dreaming big, and doing everything that people told me I couldn't do. It's a true hip-hop record,” states Jones. “I just happen to be rapping over a beat that doesn't sound like anything out there and wrote a chorus that inspires people regardless if they listen to hip-hop or not.”
On his quest to be the greatest, Amor Jones is adamant about staying true to himself as an artist.
“For me, it’s all about authenticity. I don’t lie in my raps. My music is a direct reflection of my life. I think that’s why people like it, because they feel it. They can relate to it. That’s what it’s all about it,” says Jones.
